It's was "Game On Everyone!" earlier this week, as members of the Windsor-St. Clair Rotary Club challenged residents of Banwell Gardens to rounds of boxing, bowling and golf courtesy of the Nintendo Wii Game System the Club donated to the facility. This is one of five Wii Systems members of Windsor-St. Clair Rotary Club presented to local seniors residences this month.

"We are very excited to be able to donate these game systems to several different seniors residences in the area," said Phyllis Charbonneau, President-elect, Rotary Club of Windsor-St. Clair. "This was a combined effort using funds raised by our Club and a District grant. In addition to Banwell Gardens, we have also donated Wii Systems to Heron Terrace and Riverside Place in Windsor, as well as to Oak Park and La Chaumiere in Lakeshore."

The Rotary Club of Windsor-St. Clair was established in 1975, and reflects the diversity of the greater Windsor community. With representation from a wide variety of vocations, the members include men and women who volunteer to improve the quality of life for those in need in the local and world communities. Rotary is a volunteer organization with more than 32,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas. It initiates humanitarian projects that address today's challenges affecting the world today, such as hunger, poverty, and illiteracy. Rotary club members represent a cross-section of business and professional leaders around the world. The Rotary Motto is "Service Above Self", and Rotarians strive to meet this objective in the community, in the workplace and throughout the world.

"Our Club is always coming up with new ideas for fund-raising," says Charbonneau. "We pride ourselves on our ability to make our efforts both fun and rewarding. It's what keeps everyone engaged and motivated, and we would like to think that we are able to make a difference in the community. Our local projects include the Ganatchio Trail, the Shanfield Shores gazebo, a boundary-free playground in Lacasse Park, the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen and the Begley Reading &Breakfast programs among others."
