Youth Service Projects

Right now, tomorrow's global leaders could be teenagers looking for a way to make a difference in their communities, high school graduates experiencing their first year of college a long way from home, and young professionals seeking opportunities for service. They're today's youth and young adults, and their actions will significantly shape the world's future - and that of Rotary - for years to come.

Given their important role, youth and young adults are a critical focus for Rotary clubs - a means of fulfilling the Object of Rotary and truly fostering the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise in young individuals the world over. Whether it's through Interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Exchange, or Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), Rotary's youth programs provide young people an opportunity to develop their character and embrace new experiences while exposing them to the organization's values of service, high ethical standards, and peace.

Locally, we:

  • Award bursaries for post-secondary and post-graduate education.
  • Provide financial support for an adult to pursue a post-secondary education and re-enter the work force with the Gary O'Neil Memorial Vocational Award.
  • Introduce the 4-Way Test to local elementary and secondary schools to foster high standards of ethics among youth.
  • Contribute to the Athena Award Scholarships
  • Sponsor high school students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) seminar
  • Support and sponsor an Interact Club at Brennan High School
  • Support and sponsor the Youth Exchange Program
