The financial burden of post secondary education will be lightener for eleven students to whom the Rotary Club of Windsor St. Clair will award bursaries.  Students exhibiting outstanding academic achievement, diverse volunteer activities, and financial need were selected as recipients of this bursary.  Further consideration was given to those students who demonstrated a commitment to the Rotary International motto of Service above Self.

Chris Woodrow, Club President, is pleased for the opportunity to provide this financial assistance to these deserving students.  As tuition fees continue to rise, it is important to assist young people in furthering their education.  "The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and the Rotary Club of Windsor-St. Clair is very proud to help support these students in achieving their dreams,” he says.

In choosing the successful recipients, the Principal and Guidance Departments at secondary schools in the Windsor-St. Clair area were invited to select potential candidates from their grade 12 student population.

Bursaries were awarded to Alexandra Andrei, Sean Paul Desmarais, Natalie Ethier, Wesley Hall, Qiao Liu and Victoria Rybaczuk, who will all continue their studies at the University of Windsor.  Vanessa Bartow, Nathan Crankshaw and Amber Lynn Meloche will head to St. Clair College, while Jacob Lacroix will study and Mohawk College, and Nicole Lorencovic at the University of Ottawa.

Each student will be provided a cheque in the amount of $750.00 to assist with tuition and books for the coming school year. The total club donation of $8,250 was raised through bingo volunteer sessions during the past year.
